What is a CENOMAR Certificate?
Whether you are planning to get married or apply for a visa abroad, obtaining a CENOMAR is important because it serves as an official legal document that certifies a person has no record of marriage in the Philippines. It is a proof that the person is single or unmarried.
CENOMAR is important when applying for a Marriage License in the Philippines, even abroad. For international use of the CENOMAR, you need to get your document apostilled by the DFA or attested by the Embassy of the county where you’ll use it.
Validity of CENOMAR
Generally, the validity of the CENOMAR certificate is six (6) months from the date of issuance. This limited validity is due to the possibility that a person’s marital status could change within that period. For example, someone who is single at the time of the issuance of the document may get married shortly after, which would invalidate the previous CENOMAR.
